4 HACKS TO SAVE TIME FOR ACTORS ON TOUR

We all know the struggle of rearranging bags at the check-in counter to nail that 50lb requirement. However, when you’re living out of your bags on tour, the struggle is even more real. Today I want to share a few tips to eliminate the travel hassle and help you work smarter, not harder. Whether you’re a performer preparing for tour or a professional who travels for corporate work, try to implement these hacks for your next trip.

1. ORDER GROCERIES AHEAD OF TIME

When you’re living on the road, travel days are not so much a day off, but rather still a task to pack up and get to the next city. Meaning: you don’t have much time to get settled in your next temporary home before you have to start sound check and open your show.

Tip: order your groceries ahead of traveling to your next city and schedule delivery through Instacart for when you arrive at your new AirBnb, VRBO, or hotel.

This will save you hours of time you would’ve spent at the grocery, as well as $$$ you would’ve spent on transportation.

2. MAP OUT GO-TO RESOURCES

I always map out necessities and locations I want to visit in each city. I’m an avid coffee drinker, so finding local coffee shops is a must. I also make sure to locate the best vets, groomers, doctors, etc. for each location.

Tip: use Google Maps to plan and organize your required accomodations. This will help to keep everything in a single, accessible place.

3. USE AIRBNB & VRBO LISTS

Every time I’m researching stays in a new city, I use the address of the venue to find apartments around where I will be working. This will help you cut down on Uber, Lyft, or rental car costs while you are visiting.

Tip: organize your stay with AirBnb and VRBO lists to see proximity to your venue on map view and compare prices with list view.

4. TALK TO YOUR HOSTS

When I’m planning my visit to our next city, I always make sure to ask locals for suggestions. They are more than willing to help guide you while you’re staying in a new place and have incredible knowledge of the city.

Tip: don’t be afraid to reach out to your AirBnb or VRBO hosts to discuss and negotiate your financial limitations. They also have a wealth of knowledge for activity suggestions during your visit.
