A NOTE FROM THE ASSOCIATE CHOREOGRAPHER

It was a true honor to serve as Associate Choreographer for The Ashley Bouder Project at The Joyce Theater, working alongside visionary choreographer Abdul Latif. In collaboration with artists from New York City Ballet, we explored a fusion of classical pointe work and contemporary movement, layered with beatboxing to bring new rhythm and edge to the stage. Our piece, inspired by The Seagull, took flight through themes of freedom, flocking, and transformation — drawing on both avian imagery and human emotion. As we shaped this physical storytelling, I supported the development of movement that echoed both the precision of ballet and the pulse of something far more modern. The result was an exhilarating blend of tradition and innovation, and a project I’ll always treasure.
