A NOTE FROM THE CHOREOGRAPHER
Crafting this piece for I Put a Spell on You was an exhilarating challenge, blending two iconic pop worlds into a hauntingly hypnotic movement piece. Inspired by Rihanna’s Disturbia and Lady Gaga’s Bloody Mary, I aimed to evoke a sense of fractured reflection and eerie beauty. The ensemble of “Bloody ballerinas” moved not in perfect harmony, but in jagged unison — like ghostly echoes in a cracked mirror — bringing the characters of Bloody Mary and Mary Sanderson to life in a visceral, unsettling rhythm. It was a joy to craft movement that felt both contemporary and theatrical, and to be part of a production that supports the Ali Forney Center’s incredible work for LGBTQ+ youth.
